The old bull and the young bull Mark McIlroy 14 September 2025 1. It is in the nature of males to fight each other to become the one who is in charge. Some women observe this situation and know about it. 2. There are four solutions to this situation. 3. - The young bull goes a long way away and starts their own family, business, etc. I've listed this first because it is my preferred option. 4. - The young bull fights the old bull then overthrows them and becomes in charge. I don't like this because it's not a very nice situation for the old bull. However I would fix this by saying that at least if the old bull gives up control or is forced into retirement, he or she should be treated with respect in their retirement. 5. - The young bull waits their turn until the old bull dies. This is not a very good option because, by the time that the old bull has died, the young bull is usually too old to be effectively in charge or enjoy their time. 6. - The old bull hands over control to the young bull when they can no longer continue and moves away to retire. 7. - I will finish this story by saying that sometimes the old bull kills the young bull or the young bull kills the old bull. I do not agree with either of these scenarios. While it is probably part of nature the human race has the opportunity to be more civilised. The old bull should have a chance to enjoy his or her retirement. They should not be killed. The young bull should not be killed but should have their turn to shine in the spotlight. I believe that a person should spend most of their time with other people of their own age. That way, there can be more than one person who is in charge, one for each age group.
